The origin of the RIVA goes back to 1842 when a fisherman in Lake Como asked 20 year-old Pietro Riva to repair his boat that was been damaged by rocks. Stunned at the quality of the young Riva’s workmanship he convinces him to travel to Sarnico, Lake Iseo 70 km away to repair more boats. This was the birth of RIVA; the journey marked the start of Pietro Rivas career as a professional boat builder. Within ten years he was able to establish his company, he married Lucrezia Taroni and together they have five children; their son Ernesto today inherits the company.

RIVA has always been the chariot of choice for the brilliant and the famous, when ferrying about Venice, going to filmfestivals, visiting the coast, and the boat is an ever-present along the waterways of Venice. An integral part of its modern maritime history. but the brand also embodies Italianism in perfection, combining history with innovation, style with engineering, artisanal expertise with mass production – a sweetly packaged object of desire that promises La Dolce Vita, much like Italy itself.
