That’s right ladies this season we say goodbye to the cartoon heels and hello again to kitten heels, also known as ‘le petit stiletto’. Now some women may breathe a sigh of relief as they can put away their painfully sky-high stilettos for a more comfortable option which is now as fashionable as ever. Others may dread the reappearance of the frumpy shoe, since the higher the shoe the slimmer the woman. Spurred by the trend of the 50’s and 60’s this controversial return works well pointed, dainty, minimalist or retro inspired. Sandal kitten heels are also becoming popular for the spring season.
This year’s sensible catty kitten heels are genuinely sexy with Bobby to above knee socks teamed with short skirts, flared dresses or rolled up pants.  If you’re worried about looking short, opt for a pointed toe as this will elongate your legs. Cool colors of pastels and warm earthy tones are big this season, matching accessories such as vinyl and leather handbags are a hit to match with.
No matter how women may feel about them, the 3-5cm heel is making a come back spotting plenty of designers using them for their shows and in their new collections. Marc Jacobs, Chloe, Christian Louboutin, Missoni, Prada, Louis Vuitton and Karl Lagerfeld have unveiled the everyday shoe, but just how practical are they?
It seems that Naomi Attwood at Grazia had something to say there. She said: "You can’t run for a bus in them and they’ll pinch your toes. Crucially, they don’t give you that leggy look, and they’re not exactly flattering to your calves/ankles." Certainly controversial I say we all give our backs and feet a rest and enjoy the comfortable trend for as long as it will be around for.
Chanel showed pale pastel cocktails dresses below the knee towards the ankle matched with kitten heeled sandals and points.

The kitten heel trend was started when Audrey Hepburn famously wore them back in the 1950s.  Today, papped in Kitten heels are people like Alexa Chung who made a statement by wearing them on the catwalk instead of the towering stilettos of other female celebrities. Victoria Beckham, notoriously known for her choice in only and always wearing mega high platform shoes has been seen following the feline trend wearing bow Mui Mui kiteen heels.
Other celebrities such as Jennifer Anniston who opted for a nude sandal, Michele Obama and Nicole Kidman.

So the question still remains, ugly step-sister of the shoe family or comfortably classy?
